Manchester City Centre Wedding

Laura and Owen met in Manchester at University and have made this city their home so the place is very close to their hearts. They are a lively upbeat couple and their wedding reflected that, action packed giving their guests the best taste of Manchester and Salford!

Laura started her morning getting ready at the beautiful Lock Keepers Cottage just a few steps away from the Castlefield Rooms were Owen and his groomsmen waited for the guests to arrive. Having the wedding venue and the cottage so close together gave the morning of the wedding a lovely relaxed feel, Laura and her bridesmaids could spot guests arriving in the beer garden over the road. They new if they needed anything or anyone they were just a few minutes away and they just had a 2 minute walk to get to the wedding venue itself. The Lock Keepers Cottage and it’s surroundings are very tranquil, it has a beautiful garden of wild flowers accompanied by the noise of the water flowing from the canal lock next door it’s like a little Oasis in the middle of bustling Manchester, there is something quite magical about it.

"We've worked with Katie twice now: firstly for our engagement shoot and secondly on our wedding day. There's so much pressure on your wedding day but everything about Katie puts you at ease: she's kind, attentive and has a cracking eye for detail, suggesting shots you'd never have thought of! The whole process from first contact to delivery of photos was seamless. We are thrilled with the photos and have had so many compliments - huge thank you, Katie!" Laura and Owen

Castlefield Rooms

The wedding ceremony in the Castlefield Rooms was beautiful, with the brick walls, wooden floors and soft lighting there is a wonderful warmth to this room that Laura (and Owen) had accentuated with thier choice of flowers, bridesmaid dresses and the dressed arches bringing a focal point to the ceremony room. This warmth could have been a theme of the day with the weather and the over all vibe and love in the room, there was a warmth to the spirit of the day that ran all the way to the dance floor!

After the ceremony we showered Laura and Owen with confetti, then grabbed some quick group photos outside before nipping off with to get some couples portraits of them both using the gorgeous back drop of Castlefield with it’s mixture of historic brick work, architecture, greenery and water there is so much around to play with, it’s a beautiful location for photos and just general mooching about!

After the photos there was plenty of time for Laura and Owen to chat, drink and catch up with their guests before the London bus turned up to piack everyone up and take them to the party in Salford.

Black Friars

The Black Friars Pub in Salford is another hidden gem of a Manchester city centre wedding venue. The old building looks beautiful and strange in the middle of the cities towers of glass and steel that surround it and inside it’s charm just gets more enchanting. The staff are attentive and everything runs perefctly, they very much centre the couples experience as paramount, the food and selection of drinks that they have available are out of this world (I love shooting these weddings for the food alone!) and the space inside and out is stunning. The garden is like being in an urban jungle and realy adds an extra depth to shooting the speeches that you don’t get at many venues and as for the dance floor, I’ve never been to a wedding at Black Friars pub that didn’t have a banging dance floor and I don’t think I ever will. As you can see from the photos Laura and Owen’s guests were definitely up for it!
